Activity: X-Ray Image and Lab for Kids
Description: When a doctor needs to see something inside of your body, they might use an X-ray exam to take pictures of the inside of you from the outside of you. During this lab, you'll learn about the bones of the human skeleton and how to take good care of them. You'll also look at actual bones under the microscope like a real doctor! Then, you'll create your very own x-ray image of your hand, or foot. Registration includes all materials. Dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a snack. We will be using the Interactive Science Museum for portions of the lab class.

Description: Megalodon, "Big Tooth," the largest shark ever to live in our world's ocean. What do we know about this shark? Can we find Megalodon in the deepest parts of our ocean?  Let's find out! During this class you'll learn how to estimate its size; biting force, and more!  You'll listen in to Dr. Shiffman, shark scientist, talk about his favorite shark as well as answer some questions about this fascinating animal. Activity: Stomp Rockets: Design Challenge
Description: Design, create, and test a stomp rocket, focusing on the distance the rocket travels. Increase the distance your rocket travels by changing the velocity, air pressure, and angle of launch. During this class, you'll learn about the 4-factors that affect flight and how we can balance those forces to increase trajectory. Dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a snack. Participants are welcome to bring their own empty 2-liter bottles of soda for extra fun. All other materials provided by instructor.

Description: Did you know we can identify stars based on their fingerprints? How's that possible?  The spectrometer is an astronomer's favorite tool to use in astronomy because it helps them learn about the universe. We'll make a spectrometer using simple items you can find at home or at a friend's house. All materialis provided with registeration. Description: Most kids love rocks and fossils. Sometimes, those rocks end up in the washing machine. But the purpose of this class is to get young minds looking at some common rocks and fossils and learning how to identify them. We'll use different methods to help us determine whether it's a rock or a mineral or a fossil!  We'll even start up our own rock collection.  Dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Activity: Shredders Bike Skills Camp and Rodeo
Description: From mountain bikes to BMX bikes, this skills camp is for you. You’ll learn how to ride your bike like a pro! From bunny hops to dodging rocks; to figure 8’s to the slow poke race; one thing is certain, you’ll ride with better bike control. Did I mention we’ll see who can balance his/her bike the longest?  On the last day, we’ll compete for the title: Bike Rodeo Champ! Description: Do you have a fear of insects? If so, then you’ll want to take this fun and engaging class to help “squash” that fear. We’ll learn how to recognize the good, the bad, and the ugly through observation; the ethics of collecting insects; and how to display them. Bring water and a snack. Description: Enjoy a late afternoon trail ride (or walk/jog) around Hillcrest Park with your family, friends, or on your own. This ride will be a casual/slow-paced. Bring your picnic eats and treats, bikes, water, and a helmet for some fun as we meander the trails and picnic under the shade of the elm trees. Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress comfortably. Ages 0-110 years young. Park in the lot near the main zoo entrance or near CYSA (former golf pro shop). We’ll meet in the area where the red balloons are near the bridge. Activity: FREE! Party Under the Stars: Star Party at Oasis State Park
Description: The Milky Way and all the stars and planets invite you to the best Star Party ever! Arrive (and depart) anytime to join the Clovis Astronomers and Outdoor Educator, Tish, for this one-of-a-kind-event. We’ll focus on amazing objects of the night sky and answer any questions you may have. Bring some white paper and magnets and let’s see if we can capture meteorite dust. Bring water, snacks, and a chair. Flashlights need to be red or covered in red plastic/paper to protect viewing capabilities of the telescopes. Please turn off headlights as you enter the area. Ms. Tish will provide glow sticks to the kids.  Event is located at parking lot next to Visitor Center. Parking is $5.00 per vehicle. Event is FREE!

Description: Want something fun to do that will add some beauty to your backyard or maybe a special place in the house?  We'll kick back, relax, listen to some music as we decoupage old jars with colored tissue paper; paint stones; and make flowers. Activity: Sharks! The Perfect Predator
Description: Grab your scuba gear and get ready to dive into shark-infested waters. Explore these amazing creatures through hands-on, guided activities; listen to how sharks shaped human history and culture; and why scientists believe sharks are the ocean’s perfect predators. From guest speakers to an actual shark dissection, get ready to sink your teeth into the fun! WARNING: Venturing into the deep water can be dangerously FUN! Please wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops) and comfortable clothes. Bring water and snacks. Registration fee includes all materials used in class.
*All students are free to choose not to dissect a shark as part of the team experience. He/She may observe as part of the active participation.

Activity: Life in the Ocean: Skates, Squid, Shark
Description: Introduction to sea life.You'll learn about ocean life and some of the animals that live there. This will be a class for the budding marine biologist or veterianarian who is interested in learning how to dissect using real dissection tools. If you've not taken the Sharks class, then you'll want to take this course. All materials provided with registrration. This class is very engaging and requires good listening and communication skills to keep the experiences safe folloiwed by fun. Dress in clothes that may get wet and kinda stink. Wear closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a snack.

Description: Do you enjoy poking dead things with sticks? Curious about why something died? Or, maybe you just like looking at bones? If this is you, then you'll want to take this class. We'll have hands-on activities that will have you wondering "what happened here?"  See? Already thinking like a detective. From comparing skulls to looking at things under the microscope, this class is an introduction to forensic science. Dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Bring water and snacks. Description: Children and parents of all ages will enjoy CCC’s Interactive Science Museum! There are so many discoveries to make while playing with our “toys”. Come and check out our gear table, digital microscopes, fossils, bones, our new outdoor music exhibit, Kidzspace, and Keva Plank Engineering Space. We have optical illusion gadgets, circuit and electricity gizmos, audio devices, and so much more! Your family will have tons of fun while having a hands-on science experience.
