Description: Join us and the Clovis Astronomers as we take a journey through the galaxy. You will learn about the mysteries of the universe such as black holes, time travel, and the stars that make our sun look wimpy. You will have plenty of hands-on activities and projects that you'll take home. Then, on Saturday, June 9th at 8pm, Oasis State Park, you can join us for the Stellar Party where the stars twinkle like a giant disco ball overhead. Five afternoons of heavenly bliss. Description: Do you have what it takes to survive the harsh environment of the Southern High Plains? Yes, you can! And you don't have to prove it on Survivor. You will learn how to stay "safe and found" during this Kid vs Wild course. From basic first aid to accessing your location and gathering supplies, building a shelter and signaling for help. You'll test your skills against other kids during this fun and informative class. Please wear closed-toed shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Please bring plenty of water and snacks - every day. Class takes place outdoors with some indoor projects. "Starting a fire is an important survival skill. But for safety, this portion of the class will be discussed, not demonstrated." Description: Eureka! Did you hear the news? Some folks discovered gold in your neck of the woods, Hurry! Gather your friends, family and neighbors and head on over for a real experience like no other: Gold Panning! You could be the next person to yell, "EUREKA!" You'll learn about "Poor Man's Mining," the difference between Fool's Gold and real gold, and hear a story or two about the Gold Rush. Real gold flakes may be discovered as sand collected is from an actual site where gold was found. Bring your panning supplies: Pie pan or Frisbee, Eye Droppers, Small plastic container. Please be prepared as the event will take place outdoors. Wear a hat, sunscreen or a long-sleeved shirt. Take along water, snacks, and a sense of adventure to this fun event, and a sense of wonder.

Description: (Star Party) It's time to get funky! So bring your disco ball, the Bee Gees, and your glows sticks for this fun Star Party at Oasis State Park. The Clovis Astronomers will be sportin' their sideburns while showing you all the crazy and far out space objects to oooh and ahhh at. The Outdoor educator will be handing out a limited number of glow sticks for the kids. (Scorpion Scavenger Hunt) It’s our annual scorpion hunt for Kids College! Join us as we set out on the sand dunes at night to search for these fascinating creatures and find out just how cool these amazing arachnids really are. Our Outdoor Educator will be taking small groups of 7-10 individuals out on the dunes for a Scorpion Hunt. We'll make our rounds every 30-minutes. Meet at the playground entrance just south of the parking lot. Blacklights are limited in supply. Please consider bringing your own. Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress comfortably. Keep in mind there are plants that poke and remember what we are looking for...well....you get the idea. Bring your water, too. Park near visitor center.
