United Way of ENM is approved to sponsor seven (7) full time, 12 month VISTA Volunteer positions in our community. These VISTA Volunteer positions will be available with benefits funded by the AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program. Benefits include a biweekly living allowance of $472.22, AmeriCorps VISTA supplemental healthcare benefits and either a $1,800.00 End of Service Stipend or a $5,920.00 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pay for college, graduate school, or existing qualified educational loans. Child care assistance, training, relocation assistance and liability insurance are provided. Student loans may be deferred during the 12 month commitment. Core Characteristics for each VISTA position: strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written); be a self-starter, comfortable with public speaking, and good organizer; computer savvy, comfortable with MS Office programs-MS Word, MS Excel, Emailing, and Facebook.
Resource Development Coordinators (three positions)-- Assist four local Elder Serving organizations and one Veteran serving organization grow their financial sustainability through development of effective volunteer led fundraising processes utilizing traditional techniques and social media. Also assist these organizations to expand the roles that volunteers can play in carrying out their work and making more poverty fighting work possible. Help create and maintain donor /potential donor databases; create a donor communications plan; recruit, train, and involve staff and volunteers on fundraising processes and communications.
Volunteer Coalition Coordinators (three positions)—facilitate the creation of a Community Volunteer Council whose focus will be to create sustainable volunteer projects that address unmet community needs, adult financial literacy, and reducing youth isolation and under-involvement. Build capacity among local non-profits to effectively recruit and manage more volunteers- especially youth. Mobilize more volunteers across our community.

SNAP Outreach Coordinator (one position)—Assist local Food Bank in effectively reaching out to the 2,000 families in our area who are eligible for but not enrolled in SNAP. Design and implement the steps and strategies for informing eligible populations about the SNAP program and how to provide basic assistance with the application process.
