Our Community Working Together
2-1-1 increases the value of our community organizations working together and allows for great collaboration.
United Way of Eastern New Mexico encourages organizations to share information, refer clients to the next step in services, and work together to find solutions for problems. Game Changers is and example of that and so are our programs Winter Warmth and Beat the Heat because most of our clients are referred by other local organizations through 2-1-1.
Another example of this spirit of working together came in 2007, after the March 23rd Tornado our community came together to address the long-term recovery needs of the affected residents. Local churches and organizations formed the ENM Disaster Recovery Committee and worked with donated funds and a caseworker to help over 300 families after the intial assistance period of FEMA ended.
Currently one tool that our community organizations have to work with is Charity Tracker. Charity Tracker is an online network database focused solely on our two counties. Using this online system, organizations can see clients needs in context of their past requests and service history.
