- The Airmen Emergency Assistance program provides assistance to Airmen and their families through emergency assistance funds.
- Through Operation Warm Heart, Friends of Cannon Families provides food baskets and holiday checks to needy airmen and their families. The baskets consist of an entire holiday dinner and additional funds, based on the family size, to purchase food at the local commissary. During the 2015 holiday season, FOCF provided $5,000 to 100 families.
- Friends of Cannon Families programs are managed by First Sergeants. There are 30 First Sergeants on base and they all volunteer to manage the programs. The board members are First Sergeants elected to those positions. They serve without compensation.
A Cannon Air Force Base Staff Sergeant with a family of four experienced a house fire days before Thanksgiving. The fire destroyed the kitchen. Through FOCF, the family was provided with vouchers to help with groceries for the Thanksgiving holiday.
A Senior Airman with a spouse and six children, living on a single income, did not have enough money to provide his family with a Thanksgiving meal. He was given a voucher by FOCF that enabled hom to provide his family with a Thanksgiving meal.
In another situation, a Senior Airman with a spouse and three children arrived at Cannon right before Thanksgiving. On the way to CAFB, his wife gave birth to twin boys. They also have a 2 year old son. He was living in a hotel and did not have any money to pay for his hotel or food. Friends of Cannonn Families provided his family with a voucher to help purchase necessities for the family along with a Thanksgiving meal voucher.
